Police believe a girl taken from Cateret County North Carolina may be in Myrtle Beach or traveling along the coast of South Carolina.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday for Abigale Faith Lefevers, 12. She has brown shoulder length hair, green eyes and is 5’4.” Deputies with the Cateret County Sheriff’s Office, in North Carolina, think she’s with Timothy Howard Newman, 38. He’s a registered sex offender with knowledge of the waterways along the east coast. Newman has experience as a truck driver and deputies think he would likely avoid major highways.

Deputies think he is driving a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with N.C. license tag “AKT6534” that was last seen on U.S. 17 near the South Carolina border about 2 a.m. Monday.

Newman was last seen about 10 p.m. Sunday and did not report to work on Monday, deputies said.

He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carteret County Sheriff's Office at (252) 504-4800, or 911.
