• The League of Women Voters of Horry County will meet Oct. 24, at Ryan’s Restaurant at 2904 Church Street in Conway. A meeting for lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. to socialize. The meeting begins at noon with Nancy Cave speaking about ash ponds at 1 p.m. For information call Anita Moran, vice chair for LWVHC.

Republicans

• The Greater Carolina Forest Republican Women’s Club has changed its September meeting to 4 p.m. Monday at Longbeard’s Restaurant, 5040 Carolina Forest Blvd. The change was made to accommodate Republican candidate for the U.S. 7th Congressional District, Tom Rice’s schedule. Rice will address the group and participate in a question and answer session. The formal meeting will conclude by 5 p.m. The group will then mix and mingle and have a more informal discussion of the issues related to November.
