A Surfside Beach woman pays off her car and other bills with her $100,000 lottery win, according to the S.C. Education Lottery.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, won the $100,000 on a $5 Scorchin’ Hot 5’s ticket scratched she got while filling up her car at the Turtle Market on S.C.707 in Myrtle Beach.
Turtle Market received a $1,000 commission for selling the claimed ticket.
The woman rushed home to show the ticket to her son and is paying off his car too, lottery officials said.
The winner’s $5 ticket overcame the 1 in 480,000 odds to take the next to the last top prize in the Scorchin’ Hot 5’s game.
Since the start of the lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students, and more than $2.8 billion has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
