— Rebekah Bowers had 17 kills to lead Myrtle Beach Christian Academy to a win over St. James 25-15, 12-25, 25-23, 25-18. This was the first win over a Class AAA public school for the Saints (6-1).

“It feels great,” Myrtle Beach Christian coach Alex Sing said. “It is what the girls have been working for. We came close at Myrtle Beach but we finished it at St. James.”

Mary Chandler Butler had 11 kills, Mackenzie Pearson added eight and Setter Claudia Markley had 28 assists for the Saints.

“They are young but they have played together for a couple of years now,” Sing said of his squad. “We just try to play ball control and work hard.”

High school volleyball

•  (At) West Brunswick (N.C.) 3, Socastee 2 | Annamarie Guest accounted for 39 points but it wasn’t enough as the Braves fell to West Brunswick, 25-19, 23-25, 15-25, 25-23, 7-15. Guest had 12 kills and 27 service points.

Katherine Hall added 12 assists and Alison Markley also had 12 assists and 12 service points for Socastee.

Record – Socastee 3-4 (0-1 Region VIII-AAA).

•  Waccamaw 3, (at) Johnsonville 1 | Melaina Moore served up four aces and five kills for the Warriors.

Sienna Herndon added six kills in the victory as Waccamaw edged out Johnsonville in four matches, winning 22-25, 25-16, 25-12, and 25-21.

Record – Waccamaw 5-3

High school girls tennis

• (At) Myrtle Beach 7, Aynor 0 | Myrtle Beach came out swinging, keeping their streak alive at six as they hurdled Aynor in a non-region match. The Seahawks kept Aynor off the board completely, with strong efforts from a full returning squad.

• (At) Socastee 7, Carolina Forest 0 | The Braves had no troubles by sweeping their match with the Panthers. With the win, Socastee kept its record unblemished at 5-0.

High school girls golf

•  Socastee 201, (at) Aynor 211 | Kelly Daniel had a 5-over 41 to lead the Braves past the Blue Jackets at Burning Ridge.

Aynor’s Heather Johnson had a 2-over 38 to claim medalist honors.

Socastee 201 – Kelly Daniel 41, Collee Muirhead 46, Lawson Beavers 53, Kelsey Gammon 61.

Aynor 211 – Heather Johnson 38, Brooke Barfield 57, Bailey Richardson 57, Hayley Hardee 59.

•  Carolina Forest 175, (at) Myrtle Beach 209 | Jamie Karl won medalist honors with a round of 42 to lead the Panthers past the Seahawks at the Dunes Club. With the win, Carolina Forest improved to 3-0.

Cameron Crutchfield led the way for Myrtle Beach with a 43.
