SURFSIDE BEACH — The ice cream shop at the Surfside Beach pier isn’t staying closed for long.
Seadogs Ice Cream closed Aug. 23 just before the operators’ lease ran out after a four-year run. But another ice cream shop, dubbed Licks Ice Cream, aims to open Saturday in the same spot.
The ice cream shop has been a longtime tradition on the pier, dating to Frankie’s prior to Seadogs.
Licks will be operated by Curt Kremer, who owns Pier Outfitters on the pier and next to the ice cream shop.
The shop, which will open at 6 p.m. daily, will serve ice cream for now, then likely add hot dogs and chips for next season, Kremer said.
