— A Myrtle Beach woman died in a two-car accident Monday afternoon on U.S. 17 Bypass when attempting to cross the highway out of East Coast Honda.

Horry County coroner Darris Fowler indentified the woman as Glema Evans, 56, of the Myrtle Beach area. She died from trauma caused in the accident, he said.

According to S.C. Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old man was driving south in a Jeep Cherokee on U.S. 17 Bypass at about 3 p.m. Monday when Evans, driving a Dodge van, pulled out of East Coast Honda and attempted to cross the highway and the vehicles collided. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, police said.

Evans and the driver of the Jeep were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Evans was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:58 p.m.

Police determined the Evans was at fault. No charges are expected to be filed, though the accident remains under investigation.
