Conway native Junior Hemingway was one of eight players signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on Saturday.
Hemingway, a seventh-round draft pick as a standout receiver out of Michigan, battled a groin injury throughout training camp, according to NFL.com. He played in just two preseason games and had 1 catch for 14 yards.
All the players signed to the practice team were waived the previous day, when the Chiefs had to trim their roster from 75 players to 53 by the NFL’s deadline.
The other players signed to the practice squad were defensive lineman Jerome Long, wide receivers Jamar Newsome and Josh Bellamy, offensive linemen Lucas Patterson and David Mims, fullback Patrick DiMarco and defensive back Neiko Thorpe.
