— Ashton Bennett scored the golden goal in the 106th minute Sunday as the Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team beat Wright State 1-0 in double overtime as part of the Bert and Iris Wolstein Classic hosted by Ohio State.

It was the third straight contest in which the Chanticleers went to double overtime, but was the first in which they came out on top.

After Bennett ripped a shot off the crossbar in the 106th minute, Raider defenders were unsuccessful in clearing the ball away. Ricky Garbanzo, who tallied a goal in Friday’ game against Ohio State, corralled the loose ball and played it to Bennett, who took one touch before uncorking a blast from 16 yards out to net the game-winner.

Coastal improved to 2-1-1.

Women’s soccer

• The Coastal Carolina women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Wofford.

Camille Christie scored a goal in the 13th minute from 35 yards out to give the Chants a 1-0 lead.

However, Wofford countered with a goal in the 35th minute to tie it and scored the game-winner in the 84th minute to edge Coastal (2-3-0).
