MYRTLE BEACH — Thirty-two applicants think they have what it takes to be Horry County’s next police chief.
That’s the number of applications the county received as of the job posting’s close on Aug. 23, said Lisa Bourcier, Horry County spokeswoman, via email.
It’s not immediately known whether Interim Chief Saundra Rhodes threw her name into the fold. She’s served as interim chief since late February following the retirement of Horry County’s former top cop, Johnny Morgan, after 41 years of service.
Bourcier added there’s been no word on a specific timeline for selecting the next permanent chief.
