Monday’s area sports briefs | MBS adds Kimmel Street Stock Series race to Oct. 6 lineup

— Myrtle Beach Speedway on Monday announced it has added a Kimmel Street Stock Series race to the Oct. 6 lineup.

The race will be 50 laps and two heat races will determine the starting lineups.

The Kimmel Street Stock Series is known for allowing the race cars to run the high banks of the super speedways.

Other divisions running on Oct. 6 will be Mini-Stocks, Chargers, and Late Models, which will be the fourth “Dash for Cash” race in which the winner earns a spot in the Nov. 18 Myrtle Beach 400.

CCU men’s soccer

•  Thomas Allen scored in the 102nd minute Monday night to lead the Charlotte men’s soccer team past Coastal Carolina.

The teams were scoreless in regulation.

• Coastal Carolina’s Ashton Bennett was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. He also was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com Big South Player of the Week.

Bennett scored two of the Chanticleers’ goals in a 4-0 season-opening win over Longwood.
