MYRTLE BEACH — Myrtle Beach police are investigating three burglaries that occurred Monday at businesses along Kings Highway, according to incident reports.
The burglaries occurred between 12:30 a.m. and about 4:45 a.m. Monday, police said.
The first burglary occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Monday at Seafood World located at 411 N. Kings Highway, police said. An officer found the side door of the business forced open and an office door was taken off its hinges inside the business.
The restaurant’s safe was taken from the office and police learned that the last employee left at 12:30 a.m., according to the report. The safe contained $8,700 cash, a handgun and a knife.
Video surveillance showed that three people, who wore hooded sweatshirts, gloves and masks covering their faces, went into the business before cutting wires to the cameras, according to the report.
The second burglary was reported at 4:20 a.m. Monday at Dairy Queen located at 2103 S. Kings Highway where officers found the front glass door had been broken and cash appeared to be missing, according to a police report. Outside the rear of the restaurant, police found a safe with pry marks on it and documents from Seafood World.
The owner of Dairy Queen estimated that $8,950 cash and $500 in coin change was stolen from the business, according to the report. Police reviewed video surveillance from that incident.
The third burglary was reported at 4:43 a.m. Monday at Huffman Helicopters located at 3000 S. Kings Highway where officers responded to an alarm and found a window broken in the business, according to the report. Items were disturbed inside the business, but an owner told police that nothing appeared to be missing.
A microwave oven, which was located at an outside snack bar area, was used to break the window and fencing that surrounds the business was cut, according to the report. Officers planned to review video surveillance of the burglary.
