Myrtle Beach police charge owner with leaving pitbull puppy in car

A 24-year-old man was arrested when police said he left a puppy in a car for more than an hour.

Jante Jerron Brewington is charged with mistreatment of animals, according to Myrtle Beach police.

Brewington is accused of leaving a 10 to 12 week old pitbull puppy inside a locked car with the windows completely closed, a police report said.

Police unlocked the car parked on 9th Avenue South in Myrtle Beach and transported the puppy to the humane society, the report said.

Brewington said he put the dog in the car and then got busy working, according to police.
