Area golf

Arcadian Shores Golf Club is one of about 45 golf facilities in the Carolinas that will host a Family Golf Day on Saturday with a chance to win practice round tickets to the upcoming Aug. 6-12 PGA Championship at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. Arcadian Shores will offer a free kids golf clinic from 9 a.m.-noon, with a six-hole putting contest to follow.

To register, visit Arcadian Shores or call the pro shop at 843-449-5217. Kids will have the chance to play free on the course if accompanied by a paying adult in the afternoon.

CCU golf

The Chanticleers’ Sebastian Soderberg and Charlie Winegardner were named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, as named by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

To be eligible for such status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of their team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships. Also, they had to have a score-average under 76 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.
