— A 23-year-old Myrtle Beach man was jailed after his former girlfriend told police he choked her, and broke a vacuum cleaner and a fan before he threatened her life, according to a police report.

Dane Ricky Martin, 23, of Myrtle Beach was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature when police arrested him at his workplace Tuesday evening, according to the report.

Martin is being held at the Myrtle Beach jail pending a bond hearing.

The 21-year-old woman told police that about 4 p.m. Tuesday she asked Martin to talk to her like an adult so they could sort out the end of their relationship inside the apartment they share at 1214 Pinegrove Drive, police said.

The victim said they were together for two years and have been living together for about nine months. The victim told police that their discussion escalated to an argument and Martin grabbed her to keep her from leaving the apartment, according to the report. The victim said Martin choked her and threw her on the couch before he punched the wall, and broke her vacuum cleaner and a fan.

The victim said Martin threatened to damage her vehicle, the apartment and kill her if she tried to change the locks, according to the report.

The victim had injuries to her neck and arms, but declined to be treated by EMS.

Officers obtained an arrest warrant and took Martin into custody later Tuesday evening while he was at work, but the report did not list that location.
