SURFSIDE BEACH — Town Council met in Surfside Beach on Tuesday night to discuss upgrades to the Surfside Beach Pier.
Mayor Doug Samples said council asked interim town administrator and staff to draw updated renderings of the changes, which the town has one year to change after a mediation settlement with the S.C. Department of Justice.
The towns pier does not meet requirements with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and needs to alter the entrance ramp on the west side. Bathrooms need to be added to the beach side of the property.
Those drawings may be ready for the next Town Council meeting on Tuesday.
