A Myrtle Beach man was arrested Monday evening for violating golf cart rules,resisting arrest and child neglect, according Horry County Police.
Dakota Norfleet Eason of Myrtle Beach is charged with two counts of unlawful operation of a golf cart and with operating an uninsured vehicle, the report said. He is being held without bail at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
An officer on patrol on U.S. 17 Business entered the north end of the Surfside Beach city limits and saw a yellow and blue golf cart crossing the road after dark without any lights carrying a very small child as a passenger, the report said. Eason didn’t stop for blue lights, but stopped when the siren was activated, the report said.
Eason was unable to provide a driver’s license, and had a small baggie of a green leafy substance in his pocket, the report said. When the officer advised him to give him the baggie, Eason fled on foot. The Surfside Beach Police Department assisted in the pursuit around North Fawn Vista Drive, and the county officer returned to the cart to check on the child who was only wearing a bikini.
Eason was found in an apartment on North Fawn Vista Drive under a child’s bed.In addition to the charges, the officer placed a hold on Eason for resisting arrest and child neglect, duefor fleeing the scene of the traffic stop and leaving the victim, the report said.
