Junior golf

A number of players from the Grand Strand are among the 154 players scheduled to tee it up Saturday and Sunday in the Carolinas PGA Junior Championship at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University.

The boys and girls winners will qualify for the Junior PGA Championship from July 31-Aug. 3 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Strand player registered this weekend include Myrtle Beach’s Mark and Kohler Karavan, Ryan Case, Anthony Caroso, Cole Swezey and Zachary Hickman, Chase Johnson of Galivants Ferry, Johnson Holliday of Aynor, Ashley Anderson of Garden City Beach and Ashley Sloup of Southport, N.C.

The 37th Junior PGA Championship will feature more than 150 players and is open to one boy and one girl champion from each of the 41 PGA of America Sections, winners of nine PGA Junior Series events and a few other national junior tournaments, and special invitees.
