MYRTLE BEACH — Myrtle Beach police responded Sunday to a handful of incidents of alleged public intoxication.
Each of the incidents resulted in an arrest and took place between midnight and 5:30 a.m.
According to an incident report, a man was arrested after being spotted running into and out of traffic four times “talking and ‘high fiving’ people at vehicles” near 9th Ave. N. and Ocean Boulevard.
An officer approached him as the 21-year-old man tripped on the curb trying to get back on the sidewalk.
He “had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol,” the report said.
Another 21-year-old man was arrested near 11th Ave. N. and Ocean Boulevard after being spotted urinating while unsteady on his feet. The responding officer also noticed the man smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech.
Still another 21-year-old man was arrested in front of a beach house near 12th Ave. N. and Ocean Boulevard drinking a Bud Light on the sidewalk.
A 24-year-old man was passed out on the ground of the 7th floor of a parking garage near 27th Ave. N. and Ocean Boulevard.
A police officer spotted a 41-year-old man near 5th Ave. N. and Ocean Boulevard. The man had trouble standing up, slurred speech and smelled like alcohol.
A 40-year-old man was “yelling and making a scene” near 26th Ave. S. and Ocean Boulevard. “He was unsteady on his feet and had a Four Loco adult beverage in his hand,” according to the report. “The offender thought he had [too] much to drink. The offender could not walk very well and was almost falling over.”
A police officer saw a 49-year-old man sleeping under a tree at the corner of Mr. Joe White Avenue and Warren Street. The officer asked the man if he was OK.
“He slurred his [speech] and had a strong odor of alcohol about him. He also stated he had a lot to drink after he missed his curfew at Street Reach,” a report said.
