Georgetown man jailed on charges in gun, fork attack on Myrtle Beach vacationer

A Georgetown man was charged in connection with an attack on a Myrtle Beach vacationer, who told police an armed suspect forced his way into his motel room late Monday, demanded money and stabbed him in the neck with a long pronged cooking fork before breaking a window and jumping from it to flee, according to a police report.

Terrance Rayon Thompson, 28, of Georgetown, was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and first-degree burglary in connection with the incident, according to authorities.

Thompson is being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail without bond on the charges.

The victim told police that about 11:30 p.m. Monday at 104 N. Ocean Blvd., he was going into his room when the suspect, a man, came up behind him and pushed his way into the room, police said. The report did not list the victim’s hometown.

Once inside the room, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim’s face and demanded money while rummaging through items in the room, according to the report. The victim said he had two female friends staying with him in the room and the suspect went through their things. The women were not present during the robbery attempt.

The victim said he pushed the suspect and took the gun and used it to hit the suspect several times, according to the report. The suspect went into the kitchen area of the room grabbed a long two-pronged fork, charged at the victim and stabbed him twice in the neck.

The victim said he used the bedspread to fend off the attack and blocked the door while calling 911, according to the report. The victim said the suspect kicked out a window and jumped through it to flee the room.

Witnesses told police they saw the man come through the window and flee. Witnesses also told police they saw a group of five men on the side of the motel before the incident. Detectives are investigating the incident. The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment of cuts to his neck.
