Aynor teen drowns

An Anyor teen died Friday afternoon.

Darrell Miller, 17, drowned just after 1 p.m., Marion County coroner Darrell Richardson said.

He had been swimming in the Little Pee Dee River with friends off the Sandy Bluff Landing on the Horry County and Marion County border.

No autopsy has been scheduled.

Police nab vending machine thieves

A Surfside Beach police officer, while on patrol Tuesday, caught two men trying to steal money from a vending machine.

The officer noticed the lights had been shut off on a Coca Cola machine while driving on the 400 block of U.S. 17 North around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a report released Friday. Two men were on the side of the machine, but ran into the laundromat when the patrol car pulled in.

The men denied they had identification and gave the officer fake names, police said.

Tommie Lee McCraw, 28, of Reidsville, N.C. is charged with malicious damage to personal property, giving false information to police and possession of an implement capable of being used in a crime.

William Henry Moore, 33, of Little River, is charged with malicious damage to personal property, giving false information to police, possession of an implement capable of being used in a crime and driving under suspension. Moore was also charged as a habitual traffic offender because he had been convicted three times in the last five years for driving with a suspended license, police said.

Both men were released on bail Thursday.

Georgetown man faces charges in robbery

A Georgetown man was indicted on charges in connection with an armed robbery at a cellular store in Myrtle Beach, according to court records.

Jonathan Magnigault, 27, was indicted on two counts of kidnapping and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the Jan. 13 incident at Hotwire Cellular, according to indictments released Thursday.

Another man was also arrested in the incident.

CONWAY

Man indicted for kidnapping

A Conway man was indicted on charges in a home invasion from last year, according to court records.

Venson Edward Strickland, 21, of Conway, was indicted on three counts of kidnapping in connection with the Jan. 31, 2011, incident at a home on Fulmer Street, according to indictments released Thursday.

The identity of another suspect in the incident has not been released.

MYRTLE BEACH

Would be florist robber indicted

A Virginia man was indicted by an Horry County grand jury on a charge he tried to rob a Myrtle Beach florist, according to indictments released Thursday.

Jeremy Lee Koonce, 27, of Radford, Va., was indicted on a charge of attempted strong arm robbery in connection with an incident that occurred on Feb. 3 at Flowers by Richard in Myrtle Beach, according to court records.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH

Two charged in series of burglaries

North Myrtle Beach police have arrested two men in connection with seven burglary cases in the city during May and recovered $5,300 in merchandise, according to a release.

Clifton Bradford Hill Jr., 23, and Darrell Allen Emrich, 26, both of North Myrtle Beach, were each charged with four counts of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree burglary, five counts of larceny and five counts of malicious injury to property, according to authorities. Hill also was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Both men are being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond.
