Carolyn Callison Murray
Carolyn has been a journalist since 1977, after graduating from the University of Missouri, Columbia, which has one of the countrys premier journalism programs. She started as a reporter and photographer in St. Joseph, Mo., and held a variety of reporting and editing positions including stints at the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, The Associated Press Los Angeles bureau, the St. Louis Sun and the Charlotte Observer.
She has been part of the papers leadership team since 2000, taking over leadership of the entire news department in early 2011. She lives with her husband in Murrells Inlet and spends her spare time horseback riding.
D.G. has been in the journalism business for 51 years, almost 40 of them in Illinois, where he spent time as the editor of four different daily newspapers. A Navy veteran, he got his masters degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He retired to the area with his wife in 1998 and started his career at The Sun News in 1999 as a copy editor and by helping then-editorial editor Jerry Ausband. D.G. is an active Rotarian, taking part in meetings in Little River, where he lives.
Dan is a native South Carolinian, born at Shaw Air Force Base outside Sumter. With a father in the military, hes been all over the world, but has happily settled in South Carolina. He joined The Sun News as a copy editor in 2005, coming from The Wichita (Ks.) Eagle. He graduated from Newman University in Wichita, where he began his journalism career on the colleges Vantage newspaper. He and his wife live near Surfside Beach and in his free time he works on his juggling.
