Brock Elder, Yoshio Yamamoto, who is a Myrtle Beach resident, and Phil Hendrickson all came into the second day of the NGA Carolina Winter Series event on Wednesday at Barefoot Resort’s Norman Course tied for the lead.

Elder shot a 3-under 67 and had a three stroke lead over Yamamoto (2-under 70), while Hendrickson shot a 5-over 77 to fall seven spots to last when the day came to an end.

Murrells Inlet’s Zack Byrd, who was tied for last coming into the second day, had a 3-under 69 to climb into third, five strokes off the lead.

CCU Men’s Soccer

•  Former Chanticleer Cyprian Hedrick agreed to a contract with Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday. Hedrick was selected 11th overall in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft in January.

Hedrick was the fourth CCU prospect to be drafted in the SuperDraft and his 30th overall selection is the second highest in Chanticleers’ history.
