THE LOWDOWN | It’s lively…it’s unpredictable…and you’re sure to make friends with a few of the regulars. Oh, and there’s more than 400 different types of liquors to choose from. That’s what we learned about Brian O’Brian’s Tavern when we went there for happy hour.

Brian O’Brian’s is located in the Parkway Plaza off S.C. 9 in Longs. It used to be a gag gift store, and you can still see some of the knickknacks around the bar, as well as hats, team flags, colored Christmas lights and a cluster of clocks hanging on the wall.

There’s a large oval-shaped bar in the center of the establishment with high-top tables and booths on either side. In the corner, there’s a small stage for karaoke, which happens every Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

You’ll find a local crowd sitting around, belly up to the bar, chatting with the bartender and each other. It’s a friendly spot and the regulars will make you feel welcome. If you’re a sports fan, there are plenty of TVs to watch games. If you’re a bar game fan, there’s a pool table, Silver Strike and Power Putt.

Check out Brian O’Brian’s during happy hour, which is from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Drink deals include $2.50 well drinks and glasses of wine. Beer cans are $2 all day everyday.

TIPS | You can park in the front or back of Brian O’Brian’s.

FIND IT | 2126 S.C. 9 East, Longs. Call 390-2625.
