Semi-finalists announced for Horry County Schools’ Teacher of Year

Ten semi-finalists are still in the running for Horry County Schools’ Teacher of the Year award.

The 10 are: Gretchen Holzberger, Carolina Forest High School; Kaye Sellers, Conway High School; Mary Brown, Conway Middle School; Shannon Page, Green Sea Floyds Middle School; Sandie Merriam, North Myrtle Beach Middle School; Deborah McCrary, Forestbrook Elementary School; Katina Ambrose, Midland Elementary School; Kimberly Tarabek, Ocean Bay Elementary School; Michelle Arnold, Seaside Elementary School; and Anna Locke, Socastee Elementary School.

The semi-finalists were chosen from the Teachers of the Year who were selected from each school. They will be interviewed by a panel and will be asked to produce artifacts of student achievement. Five finalists will be selected by March 5 and will have a series of classroom observations.

The district winner will be announced at the Teacher of the Year banquet May 1.

The Georgetown County School District also is in the process of its Teacher of the Year selection. The district’s five finalists are expected to be named March 22, with its Teacher of the Year banquet to be held May 10.
