A North Myrtle Beach man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his father, said North Myrtle Beach officials.
North Myrtle Beach police officers had been on the lookout for Lucas James Permenter since finding his father, Eugene R. Permenter, 59, dead in his home in the Cherry Grove section of the city about 11:40 a.m. Saturday.
Lucas Permenter lived with his father. He was found hours after his fathers death, and North Myrtle Beach officials announced his charges late Sunday afternoon.
An autopsy was performed Sunday morning at Grand Strand Medical Center, and Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said the cause of death was massive hemorrhage from a knife wound.
Saturday morning, a man from the South Strand area went to check on Permenter and found him dead in the living room, said North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling.
Dowling said blood was found near the mans body and it appeared he had fallen forward.
The man called police, who began searching for Lucas Permenter. Officers found his truck first, and then found him later.
