Man taken into custody after police chase in Horry County

Horry County police have taken a man into custody in Grande Dunes after a brief foot chase, according to Sgt. Robert Kegler.

The man’s name and charges will be released when they become available.

Horry County police were using tracking dogs to search for the man who fled a narcotics investigation Thursday afternoon and led officers on a chase before abandoning his vehicle near Grande Dunes.

Narcotics detectives were conducting an undercover operation about 2 p.m. in the Racepath community, off Robert Grissom Parkway, when the chase began, Kegler said.

The officers chased the suspect until the man abandoned his vehicle near Grande Dunes and fled on foot. Officers had set up a perimeter around the search area to look for the man.
