Grand opening for Harrelson Boulevard extension set

The finishing touches are being put on the Harrelson Boulevard extension, and its grand reopening has been scheduled.

A grand opening and road dedication of the new extension is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 26, said Lauren Morris, marketing director for the Horry County Department of Airports. The dedication will take place at the intersection of Harrelson Boulevard and Highway 15.

Work on the extension was budgeted at $6.5 million, and began in the fall of 2010. It runs from the U.S. 17 Bypass all the way to Kings Highway, coming out where 22nd Avenue South used to be.
