“Contraband”

Stars Mark Wahlberg as a former crook who abandons crime, but is forced back into the seedier side of life when his brother fouls up a drug deal. The cast includes Kate Beckinsale (yes!) and Giovanni Ribisi. Rated R.

“Beauty & the Beast 3D”

Animated modern Disney classic gets the 3D treatment.

Movie critic Roger Moore (not the dude who played 007) of The Orlando Sentinel writes, “Even if you’ve had it on video for years, even if your kids outgrew it in the last century, this jewel in Disney Feature Animation’s crown still works, still grabs, tickles and moves you.” Rated G.

“Joyful Noise”

Starring sassy divas Dolly Parton and Dana Owens, er, Queen Latifah.

Movie critic Moore describes this flick as a “sort of a “Glee!”-meets-gospel music choral competition musical, makes a pleasant enough racket. A cheerful, not-quite-off-color crowd-pleaser that rarely breaks formula, it’s the big screen equivalent of a sloppy smooch from your over-affectionate aunt over the holidays.” Rated PG-13.
