A Myrtle Beach man is jailed and charged with two counts of attempted murder after police said he tried to run over a man and his child with a vehicle following a dispute about a video game system, according to a police report.

Bail was set at $50,000 for Robert Earnest Mobley, 25, who is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center outside of Conway.

Mobley told officers on Saturday afternoon that he was going to a home on 36th Avenue North because a man there was threatening him because of a video game system that Mobley sold him, the report shows.

But the victim told officers that Mobley walked toward him with the baseball bat in his hands and that he assaulted Mobley when he approached.

The victim told officers he put his daughter in a stroller and started to walk away from the scene when Mobley tried to run him over, the report shows.

The victim told police he pushed the stroller between two vehicles to keep her safe.

After Mobley tried to run him over on three occasions, the victim told police he grabbed a baseball bat out of Mobley’s truck and struck the windshield and passenger side window.

Witnesses near the scene confirmed the victim’s story, the report shows.
