Myrtle Beach police charged a 47-year-old man with assaulting the same woman for the second time in a month, according to a police report.
Michael Shawn Miller, 47, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping after officers were called about 10 a.m. Monday for a disturbance at 1900 S. Ocean Blvd., police said. Miller was arrested about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at 211 S. Ocean Blvd., in Myrtle Beach.
A 37-year-old woman telling police that Miller woke up angry, hit the woman, pulled her hair and kept her from leaving the room, according to the report. The woman said Miller hit her with his fist, an ash tray, a remote control, cans of beer, a belt and burnt her with cigarettes, according to the report. The woman said Miller also poured beer on her and choked her.
The woman said Miller refused to allow her to leave the room and sexually assaulted her, according to the report. Officers noted the woman’s face was swollen in several places and she had bruises and burn marks on her arms. EMS took the woman to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Another man told police he saw the woman seeking help and he took her to the parking lot of a business and called police for help, according to the report. The woman told police Miller had just gotten out of jail for assaulting her earlier in the month.
A police report stemming from that incident showed Miller was charged with criminal domestic violence after officers were called at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 to 1506 Yaupon Drive for an assault. The woman told officers that Miller pulled her by her hair across the road into a parking lot and hit her several times in the head.
The woman said during that incident the couple argued about her not cooking chicken for dinner and the assault occurred when she tried to leave, according to the report. Those charges are pending.
