Woman charged in boyfriend’s stabbing

A 41-year-old Myrtle Beach woman was charged with criminal domestic violence after police said she stabbed her boyfriend in the chest, according to an incident report.

Police charged Dawn Hinson Settle, 41, of Myrtle Beach, after officers were called about 11 p.m. Tuesday to 2608 S. Ocean Blvd., for the incident.

A 40-year-old man told police that he woke from his sleep to loud talking from Settle and another person, and he asked them to be quiet, according to the report. The man told police Settle got mad and slapped his head.

The victim told police that Settle pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed him in the left side of the chest, according to the report. The victim said he grabbed the knife and cut her on the finger.

The victim said he grabbed the knife and the phone to call police, but Settle took the phone and broke it, according to the report.

Officers noted that Settle was drunk and said she was arguing with the victim because he threw her to the floor.

Settle told police that the victim hit her, but she refused to say where he hit her, according to the report. Settle told police that she argued with the victim and they shoved each other a couple of times.

The pair refused hospital treatment.

Man turns self in after home burglaries

A Conway man has turned himself in to police for a string of burglaries that occurred in Conway city limits, according to a news statement released Wednesday from Catina Hipp, Conway police spokeswoman.

Isaiah McCray, 20, turned himself in on Sunday and is charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree burglary. McCray was wanted by police in connection with incidents that occurred in August and October.

Conway police had already charged two other people in connection with the burglaries and plan to charge another, who has been serving a prison sentence on unrelated charges.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23, officers were called to a home on Long Avenue Extension after the owner found the house had been ransacked and that cash, jewelry and a passport were missing. Charges were filed against McCray in that incident.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Oct. 3, officers were called to a house on Elm Street, where homeowners reported two rifles, a handgun, a television and two computers were missing. McCray has been charged in that incident as well.

Road rage incident leads to arrest

A 39-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a road rage incident that took place early Wednesday morning in the Longs area, according to an Horry County police report.

Rhonda Chestnut, of Longs, is charged with assault/second-degree assault and battery, malicious injury (damage) to personal property value at $2,000 or less, and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, jail records show.

Chestnut was charged after Horry County police responded at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday to a road rage incident on Bombing Range Road in the Longs section of Horry County.

A woman had just picked up her boyfriend when Chestnut began following them in her 1994 white Lincoln Town Car, according to the police report.

Chestnut chased the victims down Bombing Range Road and hit the 2008 white Honda Civic several times on the rear bumper, the report stated.

The driver sped up to get away from Chestnut and continued driving until she got to S.C. 22, where Chestnut stopped.

The victim then met with police at a nearby gas station, the report stated.

Chestnut was arrested and taken to J. Reuben Long.

The victim’s boyfriend didn’t wish to pursue criminal charges against Chestnut, the report stated.

Three killed on state roads during holiday

Three people were killed on S.C. highways during the Christmas holiday, according to a preliminary figure released Wednesday from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.

The deaths occurred during a 78-hour time frame that ran from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Monday, officials said.

Last year, there were 13 highway deaths over the Christmas holiday.

During New Year’s last year, 11 people were killed on state roads and highways.

As of Monday, 810 people have been killed on S.C. highways compared to 802 people during the same time period in 2010, officials said.

Of the 810 deaths this year, 50 were in Horry County and five were in Georgetown County.

Of the 559 motor vehicle occupants who have died so far this year, 270 were not wearing seat belts.

During the same time period last year, 312 of 591 motor vehicle occupants killed in collisions were not wearing seatbelts.

Through midnight Monday, 110 pedestrians, 102 motorcyclists and 13 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways compared to 89 pedestrians, 82 motorcyclists and 14 bicyclists who were killed on state roads and highways through midnight December 26, 2010, officials said.
