Myrtle Beach police arrested two juveniles and a man on charges related to the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man found in a yard near Futrell Park earlier this week, according to Capt. David Knipes.
Trevoir Lance, 17, of Myrtle Beach and two juveniles were arrested Wednesday night in connection with the death of Michael Brown, 29, of Myrtle Beach, Knipes said.
Lance was charged with accessory after the fact of homicide while the two juveniles were charged with murder and attempted armed robbery, Knipes said. Lance will be held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center and the juveniles at the state Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
The trio were arrested Wednesday evening after an investigation by Myrtle Beach police detectives and with the assistance of officers in the street crimes unit, Knipes said.
Brown died after being found about 3:30 p.m. Sunday facedown in a yard along Spivey Street near Futrell Park, Knipes said. A person in the neighborhood flagged down a passing police officer and reported finding an unconscious man, Knipes said.
The officer tried to wake Brown, but couldn’t and called for EMS, who took him to an area hospital where he later died, Knipes said. There was no blood around Brown when the officer found him.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said an autopsy performed Monday showed Brown died from a gunshot wound.
A motive in the shooting has not been released by authorities, but the juveniles are charged with robbing Brown.
The charges against Lance stemmed from when he “assisted in disposing of the gun used in the murder,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Myrtle Beach detectives continue to investigate Brown’s death and additional arrests are possible, Knipes said.
