Police are investigating three separate shootings from the weekend, including one that left a man dead.

Michael Brown, 29, of Myrtle Beach died after being found about 3:30 p.m. Sunday facedown in a yard along Spivey Street near Futrell Park, Myrtle Beach police Capt. David Knipes said in a news release.

A person in the neighborhood flagged down a passing police officer and reported finding the man unconscious.

The officer tried to wake Brown, but couldn’t and called for EMS, who took him to an area hospital where he later died, Knipes said.

There was no blood around Brown when the officer found him.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said an autopsy performed Monday showed Brown died from a gunshot wound.

Myrtle Beach police detectives continued Monday to investigate Brown’s death, Knipes said, in the release.

Also on Sunday, Horry County police investigated two separate incidents in which men were shot in the leg at their homes, according to Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis.

In the first shooting, officers were called at 12:05 a.m. Sunday to Woodlawn Mobile Home Park at 5514 Gwen Drive where a man on his porch was shot in the thigh by two men, according to a police report. A witness told police he saw two men drive up to the victim’s home, then later he heard a loud pop and saw the two suspects get in a car and drive away.

The witness called 911 and helped the victim until EMS arrived.

The victim would not discuss what happened or who shot him with the witness, according to the report.

In the second shooting, police were called at 10:45 p.m. Sunday to a home on Whetstone Lane where officers were told that two masked men forced their way inside and shot a 36-year-old man in the thigh, according to an Horry County police report.

The man’s wife told police that they were in the living room when the two suspects forced the front door open and started shooting at them, according to the report.

The woman said her husband was sleeping in a chair and she was watching television when the shooting occurred. The woman said she got behind the couch and thought she also heard gunshots in the rear of the home, according to the report.

The man was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A neighbor told police he heard four loud pops and went to the rear of his home, but did not see anyone in the area, according to the report.

Soon after, the neighbor said the woman came to his door seeking help because her husband had been shot.

The neighbor said he saw the victim standing in the driveway, according to the report. Detectives are investigating the incident and police seized shell casings and a gun from the property, according to the report.
