Man grabs woman’s purse out of car

Two women told Myrtle Beach police a man snatched one of their purses late Thursday when they went to get into a vehicle after leaving a restaurant, according to a police report.

The women, ages 73 and 62, told officers that about 6:45 p.m. Thursday they were in the Olive Garden parking lot at 1405 N. Kings Highway when a man walked up to their vehicle as they got inside, police said.

The older woman told police the man was standing at her open door and demanded her purse, according to the report. The victim said the man reached into the vehicle and grabbed the other woman’s purse before he ran away.

Witnesses heard the commotion and told police they saw a man run from the area to a nearby vehicle which fled the area, according to the report. The women went back to the restaurant for help.

Officers searched the area, but did not locate the robber, according to the report. The woman reported her purse and its contents had an estimated value of $875.

Georgetown

Police searching for murder suspect

The Georgetown County’s Sheriff’s Office and Horry County police searched Friday night for an attempted murder suspect who was on the run in Murrells Inlet.

At about 6 p.m. Friday, the suspect, whose name has not been released, ran away after a Georgetown sheriff’s deputy and Horry County police attempted to serve the suspect a warrant for attempted murder at Waccamaw Hospital, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Carrie Culbertson said.

The subject ran into the woods behind the hospital, she said.

Police set a perimeter from the entrance to Wachesaw East to Journeys End Road to S.C. 707, Culbertson said.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office urged the public to refrain from traveling in the search area and urging nearby residents to lock their doors.
