Police say man who was found with officer’s gun now on the run

A Myrtle Beach man who police said was found with a gun reported stolen from North Myrtle Beach’s former public safety director, is now being sought by police again and officials want the public’s help to find him.

Kashief N. Spain, had been released from jail while awaiting trial after his arrest Nov. 14 on charges that included unlawful sale or delivery of pistol to, and possession by, certain persons, possession of firearms & ammunition, failure to stop for blue light and drug charges.

After that arrest he was released on $45,000 bail with the condition that he wear the electronic monitoring device. Horry County police that device was found Monday near U.S. 31 and S.C. 9, but Spain remains at large.

The incident is not considered an escape, according to Major Joey Johnson from J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Johnson said cutting the strap on the device is a violation of the terms of home detention.

He said the public is asked to call 915-5140 or 911, if they have information about Spain. In addition a reward is being offered for the successful capture of Spain.

Johnson warned t hat Spain should be considered dangerous and the public should not approach him.
