Nightclub shootings leave two hurt
Two separate shootings Saturday night and early Sunday morning left two people injured and Horry County Police officers search for suspects.
The first shooting took place about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a club called G-Spot on S.C. 90 just north of S.C. 22 in the Wampee area of the county, said Lt. Myron Creel of the Horry County Police Department.
The victim was treated at Sea Coast Medical Center, but Creel said he had no information about the victim or the person’s condition.
The second shooting took place about 2:30 a.m. at Celeb’s on the U.S. 17 Bypass south of Farrow Parkway, Creel said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, but Creel had no information about the person or his or her condition Sunday.
Investigators are looking to both incidents and so far no arrests have been made, Creel said.

NAACP annual meeting set
The Myrtle Beach chapter of the NAACP is holding its annual meeting, featuring guest speaker Cindy Ellsberry, superintendent of Horry County Schools. The meeting’s theme is “Soaring to New Levels of Education.”
The meeting is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Canal Street Recreation Center, 901 Canal St., Myrtle Beach.
The meeting is open to everyone.

Supper helps homeless children
A group of concerned citizens are holding a benefit dinner called “Supper With Friends,” beginning at 5 p.m. Dec. 17 at Hog Heaven on U.S. 17 in Pawleys Island, to benefit homeless children.
It’s an all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet, plus shrimp and oysters, and everyone is asked to pay for their supper and bring donations of coats, hats, gloves and scarves for children who will not otherwise have warm clothes this winter.
If you cannot attend the dinner, you can drop off donations at Hog Heaven or at Sonshine Printing, 1211-B Third Ave. S., Myrtle Beach, or arrange for items to be picked up by calling Tony at 359-3014.

Christmas gala raises funds for NAACP
The local chapter of the NAACP is holding its Freedom Fund Banquet and Christmas Gala beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Base Recreation Center, 800 Gabreski Lane, Myrtle Beach.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and everyone is welcome.

Tickets on sale for home tour
Tickets are on sale now for the “Christmas in the Inlet” Holiday Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10.
This year’s tour features eight homes in Wachesaw Plantation, a gated community overlooking the Waccamaw River in Murrells Inlet.
Advance tickets are $25 and include admission to Wachesaw Plantation and the eight homes, plus a comfort stop at Kimbels.
Lunch is not included in the price, but visitors can stop at any of the restaurants in the area.
Tickets can be purchased at Conway National Bank, Lee’s Inlet Apothecary or Lee’s Inlet Kitchen in Murrells Inlet, Elizabeth Taylor Satterfield Interior Design in Pawleys Island, Rose Arbor Fabrics in Myrtle Beach or Bodega in Conway. Tickets at the door will be $30 each and available until noon at Lee’s Inlet Apothecary, 3579 Highway 17 Business, Murrells Inlet.

Rape Crisis Center holds free meetings
Area sexual assault support group meetings scheduled by the Rape Crisis Center for Horry and Georgetown counties, according to a news release.
An adult survivor sexual assault support group is set to meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays at the center’s Myrtle Beach office and at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays there is a non-offending parent support group offered at the Conway office, according to the release. For more details about the meetings call 448-3180.
The Rape Crisis Center also offers other free services including counseling, legal advocacy and a 24-hour hotline at 448-7273.
Volunteers are also sought to help provide services and to learn more about becoming a volunteer go to www.victimtosurvivor.org or call the Myrtle Beach office at 448-3180.
