Man cited after dog thrown, kicked
A Conway man and woman were cited by police after officers learned a dog was thrown and kicked, according to a police report.
Officers were called about 7 p.m. Friday to an apartment at 2202 Byaside Ave., for a dog bite, police said. A group of people were gathered in the road along Maple Avenue and officers learned Ernest Ronald Powell Jr., 20, of Conway had been bitten by a dog.
Powell told officers the dog bit his nose and he threw it across the room, according to the report. Stacy Regina Cumbee, 35, of Conway, told police that Powell gave the dog a doughnut and she told him not to because it would bite him.
Cumbee said the dog bit Powell and he threw the dog then walked to it and kicked it, according to the report. Police noted scratches on Powell’s face and back.
Police cited Powell for cruelty to animals and Cumbee was ticketed for failing to produce an inoculation tag for the dog, according to the report. Both were given a January court date.

HORRY COUNTY
Area high school affected by bomb threat
Horry County police’s bomb squad returned Thursday morning to St. James High School for a third search in as many days after another bomb threat was made, Sgt. Robert Kegler said.
On Thursday morning, the bomb squad searched the school, but did not find anything after more writing was found in a bathroom, Kegler said. The words: “School better be out Dec 1 and Dec 2 or you will all die” were found written on a bathroom wall late Wednesday.
Nothing was found during the search, Kegler said.
It is the third time since Tuesday the school has been searched by bomb squad members after threats were found written on the walls of that bathroom, Kegler said.
The school was searched Tuesday night and Wednesday morning after a custodian of the school met officers and said while cleaning the bathroom at the school he saw writing on a wall that stated: “I’m going to bomb this school on November 30, 2011.”
Nothing was found during those searches.
The school is open Wednesday and the school’s resource officer is on the property, Kegler said.
Police are investigating the incidents and are seeking any information about the threats.
Anyone with information can call St. James High School at 650-5600 and ask to speak to the School Resource Officer.
