Crazy, Stupid, Love.

This is Steve Carell’s statement movie after his departure from his TV day-job, “The Office.” The big statement is…nothing changes. He’s still the comedian with a heart of gold, the everyman who pulls laughs by first making us laugh at him but by the end, we’re laughing with him. This time he doesn’t do it alone – joined by actors who perform with an equally genuine delivery – Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore. This movie deals with love at different stages. There is the sweet and bitter love of teenage crushes. There is the apprehensive, yet head-over-heels, love of young adults. And there is the broken love of middle-age divorce where everyone tries to pick up the pieces and see what’s salvageable. All three are treated with precise humor but not at the sake of the characters. No, it’s a fully developed movie that deals with heavy topics with a sense of levity. This movie is crazy, stupid good – worth a watch.
