Education professionals had a chance to shine at the 2011 Grand Strand Technology Leadership & Innovation Awards ceremony, held Nov. 17 and sponsored by the Grand Strand Technology Council.

Awards were given to 17 finalists and four award winners for projects that were judged on their objective, results and degree of difficulty in technology integration.

Justin Essary and Holley Legg of Coastal Carolina University won the Technology Advancement category for technology development, adaptation or service innovation. Their project, called Technology in Education to Advance Learning or (TEAL) Online, is a custom, web-based repository system that houses thousands of documents, collects data and generates reports.
