Myrtle Beach Pelicans fall behind in playoff series

KINSTON, N.C. -- The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are now one loss away from having their 2011 season come to an end.

Kinston defeated the Pelicans 7-0 in the third game of the advanced-Class A Carolina League’s Southern Division Championship Series at Grainger Stadium to fall down 2-1 in the best-of-five series.

The Indians scored five runs in the first two innings off Pelicans starter Miguel De Los Santos and four Indians pitchers combined to shut out Myrtle Beach on four hits.

The winner of the series advances to play in the league’s Mills Cup Championship series.

The Pelicans are in their first season as a Texas Rangers affiliate after 12 seasons in the Atlanta Braves organization.
