Wanna see a show?
Get off your duff and make plans now for these sizzling acts coming to the Grand Strand and the Carolinas.
LOCAL
New this week:
Tom Becker, one half of the local duo Latitude - and a former member of The New Christy Minstrels, which seems impressive, until you consider there have been more than 300 members of the famed folk ensemble - will do his best John Denver imitation while teaming up with the Long Bay Symphony for an outdoor concert Sept. 11 at Riverfront Park in Conway. Becker, band, and symphony will perform such Denver classics as "Country Roads," "Rocky Mountain High," and "Thank God, I'm a Country Boy." Advance tickets are $25, available by calling 248-2273.
Savannah, Ga.-based dub, fusion, funk, reggae act Domino Effect is performing Oct. 22 at Fresh Brewed Coffee House in downtown Myrtle Beach, but ticket prices are "TBA" according to press release issued by the band's management.
He may not be a household name, but Steve Wariner is one of the most accomplished contemporary country musicians/songwriters nobody knows about, he's quietly scored more than 50 - y es, 50 - songs on the Billboard country charts, but he's bringing an acoustic-based, Yuletide-themed show to Brunswick Community College's Odell Williamson Auditorium on Dec. 2, and tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $27, and $25 for students. Available by calling 910-755-7416 or online at www.etix.com.

Ticket prices go up to $12 the day of the show.
The next South By Southeast Music Feast is slated for Oct. 1, featuring Steve Young (the guy who wrote the Eagles' hit "7 Bridges Road" not the former 49ers quarterback) and his offspring Jubal Lee Young. Tickets are $20 for yearly SXSE members, $25 for non-members, and admission includes pot luck supper and locally brewed New South Beer. You won't need tickets for this one, because it's a free street party, but jazzy jam band Galactic, mush-mouthed folk-hop artist G. Love and Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band are on the bill for the Ocean Boulevard Oktoberfest in downtown Myrtle Beach on Oct. 8, and the lineup also includes Crowfield, NTranze and Lera Lynn. Oh yeah, and an actual German-inspired band, Channelheimer, will be playing oompah music.
