The S.C. Department of Transportation reopened the U.S. 701 bridge between Horry and Georgetown counties about 3:45 p.m., according to a news release from the department.
The bridge had been closed since an accident about 8 a.m. Monday took out a section of the bridge's concret railing.
Jack Manigault Jr., 38, died when his Freightliner tractor-trailer crashed through the railing and into the marshland below it. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
The DOT and a contractor replaced about 70 feet of the bridge's railing.
The reopening was timed to coincide with the drying of the concrete, said Ricky Hughes, an engineer's assistant with the DOT's Conway office.
