Two former Horry County police officers were sentenced Tuesday on charges they received money for special assignment shifts they did not work, according to authorities.

Gordon Wesley Harris and David Rexroad pled guilty to obtaining goods by false pretenses, less than $1,000, as part of a plea agreement, according to a news release from the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office.

Harris and Rexroad each were sentenced to 30 days suspended on payment of restitution, the news release stated.

Harris and Rexroad also entered into binding agreements to relinquish their law enforcement certification and the ability to regain that certification for a 25-year period within the United States.

Both men declined legal representation and represented themselves, accepting their guilt, the release stated.

Harris and Rexroad were originally charged with obtaining goods by false pretenses, value greater than $1,000, but less than $5,000 on December 15, 2009, after a criminal investigation began when authorities received information about the officers receiving pay for working special assignment in the Prestwick community and not actually reporting to duty, Horry County officials have said.
