Toys for Tots information announced

Horry County government is helping with the 2010 U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program and announced the locations of drop boxes:

Auditor's office, South Strand Building, 9630 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach International Airport administration offices, 1100 Jetport Road, Myrtle Beach

Government & Justice Center atrium, 1301 Second Ave., Conway

James R. Frazier Community Center, 1370 Bucksport Road, Conway

The program distributes new, unwrapped toys to more than 12,000 children in Horry County, and this year, toys are needed for kids from infancy through age 12.

The county is also collecting items for the Marine Corps Reserve's Operation Rudolph, which gathers small items such as personal hygiene products, stationary, writing utensils, greeting cards and hard candy, which are used to make care packages to send to service men and women overseas.

Toys and other items may be placed in any one of the drop boxes until December 20.

It is also time for Coast RTA's fifth annual Coats for Kids program.

The program accepts new and gently used coats, jackets, hats, sweaters, and blankets and distributes them to needy people.

Items can be dropped off at the Horry County Government & Justice Center, Atrium, 1301 Second Avenue, in Conway now through Friday.

GRAND STRAND

Benefit concert to support mom, children

Friends of Kim Richardson, a single mother of three, are organizing a benfit concert to help raise funds for the woman, who just underwent a double mastectomy.

The show, featuring Shay Wise and Charlie Floyd, starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hog Heaven on U.S. 17.

Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go directly to Kim Richardson.

Her friends are also collecting unwrapped toys and other items for her children, 12-year-old twin girls and a 14-year-old daughter, to make sure the kids have a good Christmas.

If you can't attend but want to donate, visit any First Federal Bank and give to Kim Richardson's Journey with Breast Cancer.
