A fund has been set up at Conway National Bank to help the family of a teen injured Saturday in a hit-and-run incident in Georgetown County.
Jasonn Russell, 16, remained in critical but stable condition Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, according to family members.
The money is expected to help Russell's family continue to stay in Charleston while he is being treated for his injuries.
Donations can be made to the "Benefit for Jasonn Russell" at any Conway National Bank branch, or they can be mailed to Conway National Bank, P.O. Box 2490, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
On Monday, an 18-year-old man was charged in the hit-and-run incident, said Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Thomas Gallagher of Pawleys Island turned himself in Monday to state troopers investigating the collision, which occurred Saturday night on Litchfield Road, Brouthers said.
Gallagher has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of a collision with personal injury.
Russell, a Waccamaw High School student, was walking with other people about 11 p.m. Saturday along Litchfield Road when he was hit by the vehicle.
He was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital and transferred to MUSC.
HORRY COUNTY
Police to conduct numerous checkpoints
Horry County police officers will be conducting safety checkpoints at various areas in the county in September, according to a news release from Sgt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department.
The purpose of the checkpoints is to check for driving under the influence and for vehicle and driver license checks, Kegler said.
The checks will be conducted on different dates and times throughout the month.

Man surrenders after armed robbery
A 47-year-old North Carolina man has been charged after an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night in the Sunset Beach, N.C., area, according to a news release from Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.
Curtis James Robinson, of Longwood, N.C., turned himself in Wednesday to deputies and is jailed at the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $15,000 secured bond, Stanley said.
Robinson has been charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man entered the Kangaroo at 927 Seaside Road and robbed the clerk, Stanley said.
The robber threatened the clerk with a knife and ordered the clerk to the floor.
The robber took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled in a dark-colored vehicle. He did not attempt to hide his identity.
Detectives identified Robinson as the man involved in the robbery.

3 men wanted after deliverer attacked
Myrtle Beach police searched for three men Wednesday for beating and robbing a food delivery person outside an apartment complex, according to a police report.
The 30-year-old man was delivering food to an apartment in the 200 block of Cedar Street at 6 p.m. Tuesday when he stopped to call the restaurant, Ho Wah Chinese, for more specific directions to the address, police said.
Three men approached the passenger side of the man's vehicle and grabbed the food from the front seat, according to the report.
The victim said he got out, confronted the men and demanded they return the food.
The man said the assailants hit him several times before running away, according to the report.
Witnesses who saw the incident went to help the victim after the attack.
Police have not been able to located the assailants.

Agency to open at new location Sept. 9
The Horry County Community Development Block Grant office is moving to a new facility in Conway, said Lisa Bourcier, Horry County's spokeswoman.
The grant office, which is currently located at 2830 Oak Street Extension in Conway, will close on Sept. 8 to move to the Voters Registration and Election Complex located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway (formerly the old Conway Post Office), Bourcier said.
The grant office's phone number, 915-7033 and fax number, 365-0913 will remain the same.
The grant office will open to the public at its new location at 8 a.m. on Sept. 9, Bourcier said.

Mass food distribution set for Saturday
The North Strand Helping Hand will hold a mass food distribution beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Atlantic Beach Community Center, 1010 32nd Ave.S., Atlantic Beach, for the first 200 people in need of food, according to a news release from Margaret Owens, director of North Strand Helping Hand.
In addition to the food, household linens will be available. The distribution, which will be held in conjunction with DreamFest, is hosted by Barefoot Church, Celebrate Recovery, North Strand Helping Hand, and the Lowcountry Food Bank.
