Man suspects call girl stole $8,000
A 50-year-old Myrtle Beach man told police he thinks a call girl took an envelope containing $8,000 from him, according to a police report.
The man told police he was with the woman and his adult son at a motel swimming pool when he gave the envelope to his son to hold while he went swimming, police said.
Both men were intoxicated and the victim said he realized his money was missing when they returned to his apartment, according to the report. The woman told police she never saw the man's money and had known him for a few hours after meeting him at a bar.
Police asked hotel employees about the incident and learned the trio were asked to leave the pool area because they were trespassing and the men were intoxicated, according to the report. The man said he did not want his son to get in trouble.

Pet adoption strategy takes flight
The Grand Strand Humane Society says it will find good homes for its animals, even if it has to fly them out of state.
The shelter has joined forces with Pilots N Paws, a Gulf Coast service that takes animals to rescue organizations and shelters.
This week, Pilots N Paws will carry two senior German shepherds from Myrtle Beach to Maryland to find new, permanent families.
Skye and Sasha leave from the North Myrtle Beach Airport at 2 p.m. today and will be flown to a foster family in Westminster, Md.
The humane society said Skye and Sasha need extra care because they have hip dysplasia and need a place where they can run and walk, not stand on hard concrete.
Eventually, they will be adopted out by Reach Out Rescue.
The shelter said the flight is possible because local Realtor Erin Callihan has donated part of her sales commissions to help animals.

Bed bug training moves to larger venue
A training session set for today on combating bed bugs has been moved to the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center to accommodate a larger crowd, according to the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, which is sponsoring the session.
Experts from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control will be on hand from 1 to 4 p.m. in meeting rooms 202-204 at the convention center to provide information on the biology and behavior of bed bugs and to discuss control strategies and techniques.
The first portion of the training will provide a general overview of the pests, and the second will deal with issues facing the hospitality industry.
Bed bugs have become a growing problem for those who provide lodging. The Street Reach homeless center has had to temporarily suspend emergency shelter because of a recent outbreak.
For information, contact the hospitality association at 626-9668.
