Man charged in teen's hit-and-run

An 18-year-old man has been charged after a hit-and-run incident that injured a teen in Georgetown County, said Cpl. Paul Brouthers with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Thomas Gallagher of Pawleys Island turned himself in Monday to state troopers investigating the collision, which occurred Saturday night on Litchfield Road, Brouthers said. Gallagher has been charged with one count of leaving the scene of a collision with personal injury.

A 16-year-old boy was walking with other people about 11 p.m. Saturday along Litchfield Road when he was hit by the vehicle.

The teen was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital and transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. His condition was not available Monday.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY

Officials pile up drug arrests

A 37-year-old North Carolina man was arrested this weekend on drug-related charges, according to a news release from Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

Johnny Ray Small Jr., of Supply, N.C., has been charged with one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute heroin, manufacture Schedule I controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance, possess drug paraphernalia, and possess marijuana up to 1/2 ounce.

Small remained Monday afternoon at the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $10,000 secured bond, Stanley said.

Small's arrest comes after drug enforcement agents seized 32 bundles of heroin, syringes, and paraphernalia used to manufacture and package heroin, during a traffic stop on Friday.

The day before, on Thursday, authorities conducting another routine traffic stop seized 57 grams of crack cocaine.

Gloria Ann Ogundeji, of Southport, N.C., was charged in that incident with possessing the 57 grams of crack cocaine, an estimated street value of $5,700. Ogundeji, 31, has been charged with three counts of trafficking in cocaine, two counts of resisting public officer, and one count each of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance, possession of controlled substance on prison/jail premises, and possess drug paraphernalia.

She was being held Monday afternoon under a $500,000 secured bond at the Brunswick County Detention Facility.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY

Man seeking toothache remedy robs store

Georgetown County authorities are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store early Monday after telling the clerk he needed medicine for a toothache, according to the sheriff's office.

A man armed with a gun went into the 521 Mini Mart at 9275 High Market St., about 2 a.m. Monday and asked the clerk for the medicine, police said.

The woman told police the robber wore a black beret, black sunglasses, a black coat and used what she thought was a baby wipe to cover his face, according to the report. The woman said he pulled out the gun, demanded money from the register and then walked away from the store.

Police: Woman detained, assaulted

Myrtle Beach police searched for a man who is alleged to have assaulted a woman and held her against her will inside a motel room, according to a police report.

The 38-year-old Myrtle Beach woman told police that her boyfriend assaulted her on Thursday and Saturday inside a room at the Atlantic Holiday on Sixth Avenue South, and refused to let her leave the room during the incidents, police said.

The woman said she was able to get away from the 38-year-old man on Saturday went to a nearby business for help, according to the report. The man followed the woman to the business and witnesses said he threatened to harm her, but the patrons refused to allow him inside.

The man had fled when police arrived.

Man assaults driver through window

A 36-year-old Myrtle Beach man told police an acquaintance punched out the window in his vehicle and hit him in the face several times in a dispute about money, according to a police report.

The man told police he dropped off a woman in the 500 block of 30th Avenue North at 4:30 a.m. Sunday and the assailant came up to his vehicle, police said.

The victim said the assailant punched the driver's window until it broke and then punched the man in the face several times before he was able to drive away, according to the report.

The man drove to the police department parking lot and called police. The victim said the suspect thinks he owes him money, according to the report.

Woman reports peeping Tom

A 21-year-old Myrtle Beach woman told police she saw a man looking in her bedroom window as she changed clothes, according to a police report.

The woman said she got home about 3 a.m. Sunday, went to change into her pajamas and heard a noise at her window, located along Chester Street, police said.

The woman said when she turned toward the window she saw the man watching her, according to the report. The woman said the peeper ran away when she saw him.
