Horry County police seek help identifying homicide victim

CONWAY -- Horry County police are seeking the public's help identifying the remains of a homicide victim found Sept. 29 outside Conway based on a facial reconstruction by the State Law Enforcement Division, according to a news release from the Horry County Police Department.

Police say SLED determined that the victim was a man between 30 years old and 50 years old and stood 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 3 inches.

The man died of gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Robert Kegler of the Horry County Police Department.

The man's skeletal remains were found by a hunter in a wooded area behind the Veterans Affairs and Horry County Parks and Recreation Building on Oak Street extension outside Conway.

The state determined the man had been dead from six months to five years when his skeleton was discovered.
