Case for charter school set
Supporters of a proposed public charter high school that would provide academics plus vocational training including motorsports, aviation, welding, manufacturing and digital media art, will plead their case before the Horry County Board of Education.
The hearing for the Palmetto Academy for Learning Motorsports will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 1605 Horry St., Conway.

World Cup semi-finals will be played Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, The Netherlands play Uruguay and on Wednesday, Germany takes on Spain. Both games are televised at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. The finals will be played at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
Haiti shelters set sail
Temporary shelters designed to provide sleeping space for eight to 12 people will set sail Tuesday for Haiti, almost six months after an earthquake devastated the island nation.
One hundred thirty-two of the 342 homes were built by volunteers on the Grand Strand, many of them in the warehouse space of The Sun News. The others were built in northern Virginia.
A ship operated by Friendships, a nonprofit group, will pick the shelters up at the Port of Georgetown.
Resort wants to top record
An Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., resort hopes to break its own skinny-dip record Saturday.
Whispering Pines Nudist Resort and Campgrounds hopes to have more than last year's 260 participants in the event, which is part of an attempt by the American Association of Nudist Resorts to set a new skinny-dip record.
