Judge Benjamin Culbertson accepted the guilty plea for the 2007 homicide and rape of 63-year-old Julianne Blakeley by defendant Shane Lawshe of Andrews on June 24, 2010, at the Georgetown County Judicial Center in Georgetown. By admitting his guilt, Lawshe avoided the death penalty and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He pleaded guilty to the charges of murder, rape, kidnapping and arson.
